The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) believes in the potential of our officers and offers them the opportunity to continually upgrade themselves through course subsidies and academic sponsorships. The unified rank structure rewards officers with good performance and accelerated advancement in rank.

Accelerated Advancement

Direct-Entry Sergeants who perform well can look forward to faster career progression to the rank of Inspector.

Direct-Entry Inspectors with good performance may be eligible for accelerated advancement to the rank of Assistant Superintendent.

Job Rotation

CNB offers our officers a wide range of career paths and advancement opportunities. As a Narcotics Officer, you will be given opportunities for regular rotation to take up different vocations in the Bureau. During your career, you will also be posted to various divisions and exposed to new work functions and responsibilities.

  • Enforcement Division

    Conduct border checks to deter and detect drug importation and carry out rigorous and effective inland enforcement.

  • Investigation Division

    Manage all drug investigations and forensic matters in CNB. Officers also investigate and institute appropriate actions against drug offenders.

  • Intelligence Division

    Oversee all intelligence matters in CNB, including planning and executing operations against organised and syndicated drug activities.

  • Operations Division

    Oversee operations, training and audit matters in CNB. Officers also develop operational policies and manage ops-tech projects to strengthen CNB’s drug enforcement capabilities.

  • Staff Divisions

    Formulate and implement drug policies and legislations to support frontline operations, and engage and educate the public on the harms of drugs.

Full-time or Part-time Degree Scholarship recipients enjoy a greater degree of flexibility in their choice of study. It allows you to choose undergraduate courses in any of the local universities or approved courses offered by overseas universities.

MHA Study Award supports the professional development of officers who take up upgrading courses or further their studies on their own accord. Eligible officers are entitled to partial reimbursement of their compulsory course fees upon successful completion of course.
