About Us

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) was appointed in 1994 as the lead agency to spearhead drug prevention on a national scale. Its Preventive Education Unit (PEU) was formed in 1992 to focus solely on the formation and implementation of Preventive Drug Education (PDE) programmes in Singapore.

Mission

PEU supports CNB's mission to promote a drug-free lifestyle and zero tolerance attitude towards drug abuse by:

  • Developing and implementing innovative PDE programmes with a primary focus on youths.
  • Working closely with National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) and its partners to engage schools, self-help groups, as well as voluntary welfare, non-governmental and grassroots organisations in the fight against drug abuse.
  • Conducting research to develop fresh PDE initiatives so as to maintain the effectiveness of our PDE efforts.

Our PDE initiatives focus on four areas:

  1. Core programmes in the form of pubilc talks and exhibitions
  2. PDE activities and events
  3. Multimedia resources and publicity materials
  4. Collaborations

With unlimited passion and imagination, we can create a drug-free nation together.

Benefits of PDE programmes

aboutus

Equip students and youths with the knowledge needed to stay clear from drug activities and help stamp them out.

Cultivate lifeskills and healthy lifestyle among participants, thereby improving self-confidence and school behaviour. One of the reasons cited for poor performance in school is an involvement with drugs and other undesirable activities. Eradicating the presence of drugs in the system will remove one of the reaons for poor performance.

Encourage active community involvement in drug prevention efforts.

Curb demand for drugs through PDE efforts to complement CNB's enforcement efforts to tackle the supply of drugs in Singapore.
