While attaining work-life harmony is not an easy task, it is nonetheless achievable if you are committed to making it happen. Resilient families are built upon two important pillars of time and love. Here are some work-life wisdoms for a fulfilling family life.
Spend quality time doing simple things together
Often you don't have to do a lot of fanciful things with children to win them over. They will naturally feel close to you and grow comfortable in your presence when you've spent enough time together. That closeness is something that can be built with "quality time" invested.
Have regular weekend activities
Allocate time over the weekends for the family as much as possible. A walk in the park, a movie outing or swimming are fun and hassle-free activities that both the young and old will enjoy.
Get the kids to talk
If you don't take the initiative to talk to your children often, they may start to keep many things to themselves. If a situation like that continues, your children might become more and more distant from you. Dinner is a good time to get kids to share with you their day, encounters with friends, problems or anything they are interested in.
Making decisions as a family
Try to involve everyone when making significant decisions like which school your children should go to, what car to buy or where to go for holidays. This way, you can always discuss things as a family and keeps your bonds strong.
Talk to loved ones about your work
Since many of us spend a lot of time on work, we should generously share information about what we do with our spouse and family, to involve them in this very significant part of our lives. This gives them confidence and trust in us, and at the same time, helps maintain strong bonds.
Take care of yourself so you can take care of others
It is important to set aside time for your personal relaxation and growth, be it by having your own hobbies or taking classes that interest you. When you have inner peace and harmony through your own endeavours, you will find the motivation to care for and motivate your loved ones.
