Screaming supporters, placards of team names waving madly in the air, all these and more amidst strong crowds. Dance fever exploded in Singapore in March and April as 100 teams, many representing their schools, took to stage and showed the crowded how they Live It Loud with Dance with their exciting and spectacular performances. It simply blew the minds of the audience away and made everyone want to get up and start dancing too! Woodgrovers from Woodgrove Primary School, Urban Terrain Groovers from Tanglin Secondary School and Soul Asylum from Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) eventually beat the other 97 teams and snagged the much-coveted Challenge Shields.
Organised by National council Against Drug Abuse and Central Narcotics Bureau, DanceWorks! 2010 serves to provide a platform for students and youth to showcase their dance talents and to promote the anti-drug message amongst youths. This year, DanceWorks! also welcomed the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee on board as Co-Organiser with the aim to promote anti-doping among youths.
Grooving to the theme of "Dance Is Clean! Say No to Drugs and Doping!", the competing teams enthralled the crowd with their smooth dance moves and sizzling energy during the various preliminaries in March 2010. The top four teams from CAT II and III move on to the Grand Finals on 17 April and captivated everyone at Shanghai Dolly with their flawless performances.
Besides the dance segment at DanceWorks! 2010, teams also displayed their creative talents in fringe activities like the "Anti-Drug Time Capsule" Competition, "DanceWorks! Team Photo Collage Design" Competition and "DanceWorks! Eco-Bag Design" Competition.
