Anti-drug Ambassador Activity at Ai Tong School

On 29 August 2022, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development, visited Ai Tong School for the Anti-Drug Ambassador Activity (AAA). 

2. Since 2004, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has run the AAA annually, which comprises an activity booklet that aims to impart anti-drug messages to upper primary school students. Produced in two versions for Primary 4 and 5 students respectively, the booklet comprises an engaging storyline and interactive activities, such as crossword puzzles, designed to equip students with knowledge on the harms of drug abuse. An Anti-Drug Montage Competition is also held alongside as a fringe activity for schools to show their support for a drug-free Singapore through their artwork. 

3. During the visit to Ai Tong School, Associate Professor Faishal joined a class of 33 Primary 5 students participating in the activity booklet and the online learning package on Ministry of Education (MOE)’s Student Learning Space portal as part of blended learning efforts. Ai Tong School has consistently been supportive of the AAA and has participated for many consecutive years. They had also submitted winning entries for the Anti-Drug Montage Competition in 2020 and 2021 (Refer to Annex). 

4. Associate Professor Faishal also led the anti-drug ribbon folding exercise during the visit. This activity aims to educate students on the significance of the anti-drug ribbon, and to pledge support for the drug-free cause. Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Faishal highlighted the harmful effects that drugs have on one’s body and loved ones, adding that it was important to stay drug-free, and to grow up safe and healthy.  

5. The AAA is distributed to schools and community organisations every year. It is also available on the MOE’s Student Learning Space portal as an online learning package. In 2021, approximately 38,500 students from 104 primary schools took part in the AAA.
