Description of montage entry “The montage mural is a creation by the Health and Fitness Leaders. It is inspired by Captain Drug Buster’s effort to eradicate substance abuse. With the aid of all students in Ai Tong School, we will support the movement to keep Singapore drug-free. Over the course of 2 months, the student leaders drew, painted the mural and pasted images of all the Primary 4 and 5 students pledging to keep Singapore drug-free. The prominent landmarks, interpreted by the students’ imagination, are illustrated in icon buttons to represent a vibrant and modern drug-free Singapore. The sea surrounding Singapore is teeming with 100 ribbons folded and contributed by the students to represent the school’s 100% effort to support the anti-drug movement. The photo montage includes all the Primary 4 and Primary 5 classes that pledged to support Captain Drug Buster. Holding the ribbons in their palms and pledging to fight substance abuse, students hope to be just like the prominent painting of Captain Drug Buster in the mural, holding the future of Singapore in their hands. Let’s keep Singapore #DrugFreeSG!” - Mr Jay Sng Senior Teacher (Physical Education) Ai Tong School |
“The ribbons have our names and those of our friends who have contributed them for the mural. We are all involved in one way or another.” “It inspires me to read more about staying away from drugs.” “I like how Captain Drug Buster is holding the island in his hand - meaning we have got this under our control.” “It delivers the anti-drug message in a beautiful and creative way.” Source: Students of Ai Tong School, on the montage |
