74 arrested in island-wide anti-drug operation; More than 2.5kg Cannabis seized

         The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 74 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 13 to 17 October 2025. A total of about 2,504g of cannabis, 158g of ketamine, 76g of heroin, 73g of ‘Ice’, 12g of ‘Ecstasy’, 40 Erimin-5 tablets and numerous vape related products including 42 e-vaporiser pods believed to contain etomidate were seized. The drugs seized are estimated to be worth more than $68,000. The heroin, ‘Ice’ and cannabis seized could potentially feed the addiction of 436 abusers for a week.

2.        Some of the areas covered during this island-wide operation included Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Clementi, Punggol, Woodlands and Yishun.

3.       In the evening of 13 October, acting on information received, CNB officers intercepted a motorcycle at a junction along Yishun Avenue 1 and arrested the rider, a 36-year-old Singaporean man, for suspected drug trafficking offences. A search of the 36-year-old and the motorcycle found a total of about 2,369g of cannabis, 156g of ketamine, 11g of ‘Ice’, 11g of ‘Ecstasy’, 40 Erimin-5 tablets, and drug paraphernalia. 

4.        On the same evening, through follow-up investigations, CNB officers launched a follow-up operation in the vicinity of Compassvale Walk and arrested a 27-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking offences. Drug paraphernalia were seized from the 27-year-old’s residence in the vicinity of Punggol.

Three suspected drug traffickers arrested; CNB officers injured during violent struggle

5.        In the evening of 15 October, CNB officers launched an operation in the vicinity of Clementi Avenue 1 and arrested a 26-year-old Singaporean woman for suspected drug trafficking offences. The woman was with her 19-month-old daughter during the arrest. A search of the woman found a total of seven e-vaporiser pods and two e-vaporisers believed to contain etomidate. Appropriate arrangements were made to ensure that the welfare of the child was taken care of.

6.        Following the arrest, CNB officers raided the 26-year-old’s residential unit in the same vicinity which saw the arrest of a 27-year-old Singaporean man and a 30-year-old Singaporean woman, both husband and wife, for suspected drug trafficking offences. During the arrest, the 30-year-old woman put up a violent struggle injuring two CNB officers. A search of the couple and the unit found a total of 27 e-vaporiser pods and one e-vaporiser believed to contain etomidate, and drug paraphernalia. 

7.         Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

8.        Under the MDA, those who import, sell or distribute etomidate-laced e-vaporisers will face prosecution.

9.       Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing. The 30-year-old woman was also referred to the Police for further investigations into an offence of voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty.
