77 Arrested in Island-Wide Anti-Drug Operation; Drugs Seized Enough to Feed 235 Abusers for a Week

         The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 77 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 21 to 26 September 2025. A total of about 351g of heroin, 99g of ‘Ice’, 69g of cannabis, 10g of ketamine, one ‘Ecstasy’ tablet, one bottle of methadone, numerous vape-related products including 527 e-vaporiser pods believed to contain etomidate and cash amounting to $4,228.70 were seized. The drugs seized are estimated to be worth more than $74,000. The heroin, ‘Ice’ and cannabis seized can potentially feed the addiction of 235 abusers for a week.

Arrest of a suspected drug trafficker in New Bridge Road 

3.        In the evening of 21 September 2025, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of New Bridge Road and arrested a 60-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking offences. A search of the unit was conducted and about 106g of heroin and 26g of ‘Ice’ were recovered from within the unit.

4.      In the early morning of 24 September 2025, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Champions Way and arrested a 46-year-old Singaporean woman for suspected drug trafficking offences. Officers conducted a search of the unit and seized about 143g of heroin, 18g of ‘Ice’, 65g of cannabis and 10g of ketamine from within the unit.

5.      In the early morning of 25 September 2025, CNB officers arrested a 28-year-old Singaporean man in a residential unit in the vicinity of Hougang Street 51 for suspected drug trafficking offences. Numerous vape-related products including 524 e-vaporiser pods believed to contain etomidate, and cash including $3,500 were found within the unit and subsequently seized.

6.      Later in the same day CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Buangkok Cresent and arrested a 29-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking offences. Prior to the arrest, items were seen discarded out of the unit’s bedroom window. The items were later retrieved and found to be vape-related products including one e-vaporiser pods believed to contain etomidate.

7.          Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

8.          Under the MDA, those who import, sell or distribute etomidate-laced e-vaporisers will face prosecution.

9.          Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
