107 arrested in island-wide anti-drug operation

       The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 107 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 7 to 11 April 2025. A total of about 133g of ‘Ice’, 78g of cannabis, 69g of heroin, 0.4g of ketamine, 16 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, with an estimated worth of more than $25,400, were seized. The youngest arrested in this island-wide operation was a 15-year-old student for suspected drug abuse.

2.     Some of the areas covered during this island-wide operation included Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Bedok, Marsiling, Punggol and Tampines.

Two suspected drug traffickers arrested in Choa Chu Kang

3.     In the early morning of 8 April, CNB officers launched an operation and arrested a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman in a residential unit in the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang for suspected drug trafficking offences. Forced entry was effected as the occupants had refused to comply with the lawful orders to grant officers access into the unit. Both Singaporeans were arrested and about 28g of heroin were seized from within the unit.

Four Singaporeans, including a 15-year-old student, arrested for drug offences

4.     In the evening of 9 April, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Marsiling Road and arrested four Singaporeans for suspected drug offences, including a 15-year-old boy, his 44-year-old mother and his 42-year-old stepfather. A search of the unit found small amounts of ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia. Preliminary investigations found that all suspects’ urine tested positive for controlled drugs, and that the boy had taken the drugs from his stepfather.

5.     In the evening of 10 April, CNB officers conducted an enforcement operation at a residential unit in the vicinity of Chai Chee Avenue. During the operation, officers spotted a man and his elderly mother in the unit. The man had refused to comply with lawful orders of the officers to open the door and threatened to light up an LPG gas cylinder in the kitchen. As it was assessed that he might pose a danger to himself and his mother, officers from Singapore Police Force Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit and Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the incident. The 52-year-old man surrendered himself subsequently and was placed under arrest for criminal intimidation and drug-related offences. A search of the unit recovered about 6g of heroin, 0.7g of ‘Ice’ and various drug paraphernalia.

6.     Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

7.     Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
