71 arrested in island-wide anti-drug operation

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 71 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 14 to 19 July 2024. A total of about 31g of heroin, 163g of ‘Ice’, 116g of cannabis, 26g of cocaine, nine ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, 25 Erimin-5 tablets, five LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) stamps and 14 Tapentadol tablets were seized. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of about $26,000. The youngest arrested in this island-wide operation was a 14-year-old girl who was arrested for suspected drug abuse.

2. Some of the areas covered in this island-wide operation included Clementi, Choa Chu Kang, Eunos, Macpherson and Woodlands.

Singaporean couple arrested for drug consumption; One-year-old in unit raided

3. In the morning of 16 July, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Circuit Road and arrested a 23-year-old man and his 22-year-old wife for suspected drug offences. About 1g of Ice and drug paraphernalia were recovered from within the unit. The couple’s one-year-old child was also present in the unit. Appropriate arrangements were made to ensure that the welfare of the child was taken care of, and the child has been placed in the care of their next-of-kin. Preliminary investigations found that both suspects’ urine tested positive for controlled drugs.

Husband and wife among four arrested for drug offences

In the evening of 17 July, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Circuit Road and arrested four Singaporeans – one woman and three men - aged between 17 and 23, including a husband-and-wife duo (aged 22 and 23 respectively), for suspected drug offences. About 39g of ‘Ice’ and drug paraphernalia were recovered from within one of the bedrooms in the unit and about another gramme of ‘Ice’ was recovered from the belongings of the 17-year-old man. Preliminary investigations found that all four suspects’ urine tested positive for controlled drugs.

5. The couple’s three young children, a 9-month-old, a two-year-old and a four-year-old, were found in the unit. The children were later placed in the care of their next-of-kin.

6. Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
