81 arrested in island-wide anti-drug operation

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 81 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide anti-drug operation from 17 to 21 August 2026. Controlled drugs including about 529g of ‘Ice’, 375g of heroin, 27g of cannabis, 10g of ketamine, 10g of ‘Ecstasy’, 11 Erimin-5 tablets were seized. The drugs seized are estimated to be worth more than $105,500. The heroin, ‘Ice’ and cannabis seized could potentially feed the addiction of 484 abusers for a week.
2. Some of the areas covered during this island-wide operation included Toa Payoh, Telok Blangah and Punggol.

3. At about noon on 17 August, CNB officers arrested a 38-year-old Singaporean man at a lift landing of a residential block in the vicinity of Punggol Field for suspected drug trafficking offences. He was then escorted to his hideout in the same block where forced entry was effected as the occupants within the unit refused to comply with lawful orders to open the door. At the same time, officers spotted objects being thrown out of the unit’s bedroom window, which were subsequently found to be drug paraphernalia.

The unit was searched, and a 40-year-old male foreign national, a 46-year-old Singaporean man, a 26-year-old Singaporean man, and a 36-year-old Singaporean woman were arrested therein for suspected drug trafficking offences. A total of about 439g of ‘Ice’, 300g of heroin, 22g of cannabis, 9g of ketamine, 10g of ‘Ecstasy’ and one Erimin-5 tablet was recovered from various locations within the unit.
5. The 26-year-old man was subsequently escorted to his vehicle where a small amount of ‘Ice’ was recovered. Later that day, a 40-year-old woman returned to the unit and was arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences.
6. An assortment of weapons was also found within the unit, including a dagger, knuckledusters, katanas, and knives. The weapons were seized and handed over to the Police. Police investigations are ongoing.

7. Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, or more than 250g of methamphetamine, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.
8. Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
