Drugs including ‘Ice’ and cannabis detected by ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint
7 May 2026
1. A 29-year-old Malaysian woman and a 26-year-old Malaysian man were arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs, including about 261g of ‘Ice’ and 2,261g of cannabis, in a Malaysia-registered car arriving at Woodlands Checkpoint.
2. Based on information received from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA)’s Integrated Targeting Centre, ICA officers referred the car for enhanced checks on 4 May 2026. In the course of the checks, ICA officers uncovered a backpack belonging to the pair in the boot of the car. A plastic bag and two black bundles, believed to contain controlled drugs, were found concealed by a pair of jeans in the backpack. The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers were immediately alerted to the detection and conducted further checks.
3. The plastic bag was found to contain about 261g of ‘Ice’, while the black bundles contain about 2,261g of cannabis. The drugs seized have an estimated worth of more than $71,000 and could potentially feed the addiction of about 470 abusers for a week.
4. Investigations are ongoing. Under Section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, those who import into or export from Singapore more than 250g of methamphetamine, or more than 500g of cannabis may face the death penalty.
