Execution of Two Convicted Drug Traffickers - 9 January 2026

1. A 62-year-old and a 54-year-old, both Singaporeans, who were convicted of having in their possession controlled drugs for the purpose of trafficking, had their capital sentences carried out on 9 January 2026.
2. They were accorded full due process under the law, and were represented by legal counsel throughout the process. Their petitions to the President for clemency were unsuccessful.
3. Capital punishment is imposed only for the most serious crimes, such as the trafficking of significant quantities of drugs which cause very serious harm, not just to individual drug abusers, but also to their families and the wider society.
