Joint news release: Drugs including cannabis and ‘Ice’ uncovered from detection at Woodlands Checkpoint
23 April 2026
1. A 23-year-old Malaysian man was arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs, including about 5,127g of cannabis and 2,072g of ‘Ice’, in a Malaysia-registered car arriving at Woodlands Checkpoint.
2. On the evening of 14 April 2026, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers had directed the car for enhanced checks and uncovered two plastic bags believed to contain controlled drugs in the car boot. Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers were immediately alerted to the detection and conducted further checks.
3. On the same day, through follow-up investigations, CNB officers launched an operation in the vicinity of Woodlands Industrial Park which led to the arrest of two Bangladeshi men, aged 42 and 36, for suspected drug offences.
4. A total of about 5,127g of cannabis and 2,072g of ‘Ice’ were seized from the two plastic bags. The drugs seized have an estimated worth of more than $547,000 and could potentially feed the addiction of about 1,900 abusers for a week.
5. Investigations are ongoing. Under Section 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, those who import into or export from Singapore more than 250g of methamphetamine, or more than 500g of cannabis may face the death penalty.
