Six arrested for suspected drug offences; more than 2kg Cannabis seized

Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers arrested six persons, aged between 26 and 33, for suspected drug activities in two operations on 6 and 7 October 2022. A total of about 2,280g of cannabis, 104g of ketamine and ten LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) stamps, with an estimated street value of $85,000, were seized during the operations. The seizure of 2,280g of cannabis can feed the addiction of about 330 abusers for a week.

2.         In the evening of 6 October, CNB officers arrested a 26-year-old Singaporean man in the vicinity of Sims Ave East and about 41g of cannabis was recovered from him. The 26-year-old was escorted to his vehicle, where about 2,239g of cannabis and ten LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) stamps were seized.

3.         In another operation conducted in the early morning of 7 October, CNB officers arrested three Singaporean men aged 27, 32 and 33, a 27-year-old male foreign national and a 31-year-old female foreign national in a commercial unit in the vicinity of Henderson Road. About 104g of ketamine was seized from the unit, and a small amount of ketamine was recovered from the 32-year-old Singaporean man.

4.        Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.

5.         Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
