Harms of Cannabis
Cannabis is harmful and addictive. It can damage the brain and is linked to serious mental health issues, thus reinforcing Singapore’s stance to keep it illegal.
Understanding Cannabis

Negative effects of Cannabis use
Singapore’s drug control policies are underpinned by evidence and research. A comprehensive literature review conducted by the Institute of Mental Health experts (published in 2016) affirmed the addictive and harmful nature of cannabis, and that it damages the brain. Cannabis use is also associated with serious mental health illnesses.
These findings corroborate Singapore’s position that cannabis should remain an illicit drug.
