On 30 October 2025, officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) conducted two operations which saw the arrest of a 42-year-old Singaporean man and a 31-year-old Singaporean woman. Numerous vape-related products including 115 e-vaporiser pods and 13 e-vaporisers believed to contain etomidate, and cash of about SGD4,924.20 were seized.
2. In the morning of 30 October, acting on information received, a 42-year-old Singaporean man was arrested at his residential unit in the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road for suspected drug offences. When there was no response after officers identified themselves, they spotted the man in the kitchen and instructed him to open the door, which he complied.
3. A search of the unit was conducted and numerous vape-related products and cash amounting to SGD3,900 were seized. Suspecting the man might have disposed of items down the rubbish chute in the kitchen, CNB officers conducted a follow-up search of the rubbish chute linked to the unit, where a total of about 109 e-vaporiser pods and 11 e-vaporisers believed to contain etomidate were recovered.

Woman arrested for suspected drug offences in Fernvale

In the same morning, CNB officers launched an operation at a residential unit in the vicinity of Fernvale Lane, which led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Singaporean woman for suspected drug offences. A search of the unit and the woman’s belongings was conducted and numerous vaping products including six e-vaporiser pods and two e-vaporisers believed to contain etomidate, and cash amounting to SGD1,024.20 were seized.
5. Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug.
6. Under the MDA, those who import, sell or distribute etomidate-laced e-vaporisers will face prosecution.
